(1) Draw draft of frame design,
Selection of controller, servo and
other electric parts
(2) Make a prototype with paper
Check size and interference between
parts
(3) Making data for CNC with CAD
software
3D modeling allows to check the
integrity and screw hole position when
assembled (<- Here now)
(4) Operation check of electric parts
(5) Frame cut out
(6) Temporary assembly
(7) Alumite
(8) Assembly
(9) Programming
The design of the new robot is based
on steam punk, horned owl and Buddha
statue.
It will be painted in brass style.

New Robot
Study
for the portable robot
I found that making prototype with
paper is good way to check size and
conflict.
* Servo motors - 6
* Arduino - 1
* RCB-4 (KONDO contoroller) - 1
* LED Fan 60x60 - 1
* LED Fan 40x40 - 2
* Plasma ball - 1
* Robot LED eye - 2
* Neo Pixel 60x60 ring - 1
* Mobile battery - 2
Next step is making CAD data for CNC.

Maker Faire in China
China
has only one maker faire this year?
*Scheduled to be held
Maker Faire Shenzhen (Nov 9-10)
*Held under other name
Maker Carnival Shanghai (Oct 18-20)
Maker Festival Tainan (Around the end
of October)
Singapore Maker Extravaganza (Oct
18-20) <-Not China
*Not announced at the moment
Maker Faire Hong Kong (Around early
July)
Hangzhou Mini Maker Faire (Around the
end of July)
Maker Faire Beijin (Around the end of
October)
Three events might be held on Oct
18-20, Shanghai, Singapore and Tainan.
Since it is already May, Hong Kong and
Hangzhou will probably not be held
this year.

Robot band and
Craftel joined Shanghai Maker
Carnival, last year.
Some events do not use name of Maker
Faire because of license fee.
But what they are doing is similar.
The event is organized by DF robot in
Shanghai.They are calling for makers
now.
Unfortunately it is the same day as
Maker Extravaganza, Singapore.
Now, Maker Faire Singapore became
Maker Extravaganza.
I also noticed Maker Faire in China is
getting less.
I visited Shenzhen, Chengdou, Xian,
Beijin, Hangzhou, Hong Kong in last
two years.
But this year, only Maker Faire
Shenzen is announced.
I think the government's policy might
have changed, or it will be held under
their own name.
By the way, I was planning to go to
Maker Faire Honolulu after the bay
area.
However, due to overlapping dates with
other events, I would not participate.
Instead, I would like to attend Asian
or European fairs in the fall.

Maker Faire Kyoto
Maker
Fair Kyoto was introduced in a local
newspaper.
From my booth, robots that plays
Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and
fortune-telling robot is on the
article.
The Maker Fair Kyoto is held for the
first time this year, and the venue is
about a 5-minute drive from my house.
It is an area called Keihana (means
Kyoto, Osaka, Nara) Reserch park,
located in the countryside far away
from the historical old town of Kyoto.
Before the event, I thought not many
visitors might come because the
transportation to the venue was bad.
However, a lot of people came,
actually.
My booth was near the entrance, so I
found that there was a long line for
admission on the first day.
It took about an hour for everyone to
enter.
I also expected that many business
people and engineers would come since
the venue is surrounded by corporate
research institutes.
However, a lot of local families with
children came because it was sunny day
of the latter half of the national
holidays.
Many families also came on the second
day. May 5th is Children's day
(national holiday) in Japan.
Like the other maker fairs, some
exhibitors came from overseas.
I hope they would have enjoyed their
stay and exhibition in Japan.
I would
like to create a small robot that can
be carried when going out.
Many LEDs will be equipped for
beautiful selfie.
Incorporates steampunk and Buddhist
decor.
Allow dance-like movements, but reduce
the number of servos as much as
possible.
Using USB Mobile Battery for
convenience.
* KONDO RCB-4 Controller for
servo-motors
* 8 servo-motors
* Arduino Nano for LEDs
* 6 small LED rings
* 1 large LED ring
* 2 LED tapes
* 2 mobile batteries
Head has some variations.
* Magic circle and gear
* Plasma ball
* Armor decoration
Own selfie stick and case to make it
easy to carry.
It might have a speaker for sound
effects.
