These are the medals I received at
RoboGames, which is held every year in
California.
I participated in 2015, 2016, and
2023.
The main event is the robot battle,
but there are also art and music
categories.
The battles are decided by winners and
losers, while the art and music
categories are judged by a panel of
judges, and gold, silver, and bronze
medals are awarded.
The medal design changes every time.
This year, I was unable to participate
at the last minute, and ended up
wasting my plane ticket. I would like
to go again.
毎年、カリフォルニアで開催されているRoboGamesでもらったメダルです。
2015，2016，2023に参加しました。
ロボットバトルがメインのイベントですが、アートや音楽の分野もあります。
バトルは勝敗で、アートや音楽は審査員がジャッジして、金銀銅のメダルが贈られます。
毎回、メダルのデザインが変わります。
今年は直前で参加できなくなり、航空券を無駄にしてしまいました。また行きたいと思います。

ヘボコン
I've added a trophy-like item I got at
Hebocon to the ribbons and medals I
got at the Maker Faire.
For the robot costume, I was using the
blue and red gloves that I'd lost one
by one, but I got a gold glove as a
prize, so I'll use that from next
time. The costume is white, so I think
it suits it better.
メイカーフェアでもらったリボンやメダルにヘボコンでもらったトロフィー的なものが加わりました。
ロボットの着ぐるみは、片方づつ無くしてしまった青と赤の手袋を使ってたんだけど、賞品にゴールドの手袋をもらったので、次からこれを使います。着ぐるみは白色なので、こっちのほうが合う気がする。

The brass screws have arrived.
The ones I use most often are M3 5mm
to 6mm ones, and I was able to get 6mm
ones this time.
Not just for steampunk, but all of my
robot heads, bodies, and joints that
connect frames are this size.
Because it has a low head, there's no
need to worry about it getting caught
when used around servo arms.
However, round-headed screws are also
quite tasteful, so I'd like to use
them on a case-by-case basis.
真鍮製のネジが届きました。
１０００本だと箱じゃなくて大封筒でも配達できるんですね。
いちばんよく使うのはM3の5mm～6mmくらいのやつで、今回は6mmのを入手できました。
スチームパンクのに限らず、ロボットの頭とかボディとかジョイントでフレームをつなげるのは、全部このサイズになってます。
低頭なので、サーボアームの周辺とかに使うと引っかかる心配がなくなります。
ただ、頭が丸いネジも趣があるので、ケースバイケースで使い分けたい。

I
took part in Hebocon, which was held
at the Daily Portal Z booth at the
Ogaki Mini Maker Faire.
Hebocon is what we might call robot
sumo, but the theme is how to make a
loose robot with the most unefficient
construction, and it often happens
that the robots don't move when it
comes to the crucial match.
My robot this time is unpowered, and
moves forward using the wind from fans
either by motor or by hand. As a
result of audiences vote, I won the
Grand Prize, and received something
like a trophy and a pair of "make
magazine" gloves as a prize. I'd like
to wear the gloves with my robot
costume.
大垣ミニメイカーフェアでデイリーポータルＺのブースで開催されたヘボコンに参加しました。
ヘボコンはいわゆるロボット相撲ですが、いかにいいがけんな工作で、緩いロボットを作るかということがテーマになっていて、
肝心の試合でロボットが動かないということがよくあります。
今回出場した私のロボットも動力を備えておらず、ファンやウチワの風を受けて進みます。観客投票の結果、ヘボコン大賞ということで、トロフィーのようなものと景品のmakeの手袋を頂きました。
手袋は着ぐるみで使用したいと思います。

風神のイラストと鈴を乗せて少し重くなったけど、ファンの力でなんとか前進できるみたいです。
ゆっくりしか前進しないので鈴は鳴らないけど、たぶん負けて転倒したら鳴るんじゃないかな。

The Entertainer
Music Plant is a media art piece that
uses a PC and electronic instruments.
It is a mysterious device that, when
you play any song on the electronic
piano, plays back a song based on that
song with the notes upside down.

At "MikanoharArt" an art works using
M5Stack were on display.
It's a kind of gachapon machine, where
you put a stone into the mouth of an
owl (or maybe a monkey?).
If the weight of the stone matches the
set weight, a chocolate coin comes
out.
If it doesn't, it falls down and is
returned to you.
「みかのはら～と」でM5Stackを使った作品が展示されていました。
一種のガチャガチャで、石をふくろう（猿かも？）の口に入れます。
石の重さが決められた重さにあっている場合は、チョコレートのコインがでてきます。
あわない場合は下に落ちてきて返されます。
箱はスタイロフォームという素材を電熱線を使って加工したとのことでした。
I am exhibiting Music Plant at a local
art event.
I have made the warehouse look like a
darkroom and used black lights and a
projector to create the feeling of an
independent space.
I have set up a short-focus projector
behind the milky white panel from
Daiso to project images onto. This
panel is really convenient.
地元のアートイベントでmusic plantの展示を行ています。
倉庫を暗室っぽくしてブラックライトやプロジェクタを使用して独立した空間が感じられるように演出しています。
例のダイソーのパネルの後方に短焦点プロジェクタを設置して映像を投影しています。
このパネルは本当に便利。

Souvenirs from Malaysia
・Bread handed out for breakfast, and a
coffee pack given to us by Lin, who
came from a university in Penang.
・Keychains that John bought for the
tatami band at Batu Cave.
All meals during our stay were
provided by the event organizers, but
the portions were small at night, so
we all went to a restaurant after
sightseeing.
Most of the meals were paid for by the
locals. John was especially kind to
us, and it was his birthday coming up,
so we planed to give him a present
before we left, but we ended up
breaking up in the hotel parking lot,
so I missed a chance. I'd like to show
John around Japan if he comes to
Japan.

・朝食に配られたパンとペナンの大学からきていたリンさんにもらったコーヒー的なもの。
・ジョンさんがバトウ洞窟で畳バンドの皆さんにと買ってくれたキーホルダー。
滞在中の食事は全部イベント側でお弁当的なものを提供してくれるんだけど、
夜は量が少ないので、観光のあとにみんなでレストランに入る感じでした。
こちらもほとんど現地の人が奢ってくれました。
特にジョンさんにはお世話になったし、誕生日も近いので帰る前になにか
プレゼントをしようと思っていたんですが、ホテルの駐車場で解散となってしまったため、
チャンスを逸してしまいました。ジョンさんが日本に来られたら色々と案内してあげたいと思います。

kimonos.I should have brought a pink
yukata too.

ブースにトラが来たり、訪れた人に日本の着物を着てもらったりしました。ピンクの浴衣も持っていけばよかった。

クアラルンプール
In the afternoon, we parted ways with
John and took Jin's car to see the
electronics district before heading to
a town called Cyberjaya.
It's like Tsukuba in Japan, and there
are IT-related companies and
universities there.
After dinner(?), we were taken to the
airport.
午後にジョンさんと別れてジンさんの車で電気街をみたあと、サイバージャヤという街へ。（電気街の横には金魚やペットの卸売市場みたいなのがある。）
日本で言えば筑波のようなところで、ＩＴ関連の企業とか大学とかがある。
夕食（？）をたべたあと空港へ送ってもらいました。
チェックインのときに係のお姉さんの逆鱗に触れてものすごく怒られるなどしました。

After seeing the mountain, we went to
Batu Caves, a temple with a big Buddha
statue.
There are 270 steps to the cave, and
there are lots of monkeys on the way.
山をみたあとは、バトゥ洞窟という大仏がある寺院へ。
２７０段の階段を上ると洞窟があるが、途中にサルがたくさんいる。

The day after the event, we had a 2am
flight back home, so we spent the time
sightseeing until then.
In search of the jungle, John drove us
to the mountains north of Kuala
Lumpur.
It's normal to see monkeys in the
mountain villages lined with
residential houses.
Malaysian monkeys have beautiful fur.
イベント終了後の翌日、深夜２時の便で帰国なので、それまで観光です。
ジャングルを求めてジョンさんの車でクアラルンプール北部の山へ。（雨季なので少し雨が降ったり、雲が多かったり）
民家が立ち並ぶ山里に普通にサルがいます。
マレーシアのサルは毛並みがいい。

After the pavilion, we went to a 3D
shop owned by a friend of Jin.In the
same building there are several Gunpla
and anime figure shops.
There is also a miniature museum where
printed items are exhibited.
The museum is quite impressive, but
perhaps due to its location it seems
to be unknown to the general public.
Jin had called the shop owner, but
unfortunately he wasn't nearby so we
couldn't go inside.
パビリオンのあと、ジンさんの知り合いの３Ｄショップに行きました。
同じ建物内に、ガンプラやアニメフィギュアの店が何軒か入っています。
また、ミニチュア博物館というのもあり、ここで印刷したものを展示しているということでした。
かなり見ごたえのある博物館ですが、場所柄からか、一般の観光客には知られていないようです。
ジンさんが店主さんに電話していましたが、あいにく近くにいないらしく中に入ることができませんでした。

クアラルンプール
On the third night, my friend Jin took
me to a place called Pavilion, which
is similar to Shibuya or Ginza in
Japan. It is a huge commercial
facility, and there is a karaoke "Maneki
Neko" and a Don Quijote nearby.
３日目の夜は知人のジンさんに、パビリオンという日本で言えば渋谷や銀座のような場所に連れていってもらいました。ものすごく大きな商業施設で、近くにカラオケの「招き猫」やドン・キホーテもあります。

After sightseeing on the second day, I
was hungry so I went to night market,
next to the hotel, and bought some
takoyaki.
Takoyaki seems to be a popular food in
Malaysia, and there was a food truck
at the food court in the exhibition
hall.
2日目の観光のあと、おなかがすいたのでホテルの横にある余市に行ってタコ焼きを買いました。
タコ焼きはマレーシアでは人気のある食べ物のようで、展示会場のフードコートにもキッチンカーが出ていました。

クアラルンプール
On the second night, we were guided by
John, who was our host, and toured
Putrajaya, a city where government
buildings are gathered.
Jaya actually means "success."
We saw a large mosque and the Prime
Minister's residence. Apparently,
tourists are not allowed to enter the
mosque after 6pm.
2日目の夜も世話役のジョンさんの案内でプトラジャヤという政府関連の建物が集まっている街を観光しました。
日本人にはプトラ茶屋みたいな感じに聞こえますが、ジャヤは「成功」という意味だそうです。
大きなモスクと首相邸宅を見ました。モスクは午後６時以降、観光客の出入り禁止だそうです。お祈りの時間には、モスクから大きな音でお祈りの音楽が流れます。1日に５回お祈りするそうです。
I participated in a roundtable
discussion about STEM at KLESF. The
other participants were teachers,
educational kit developers, etc.
KLESFでSTEMについて語る座談会に参加しました。他の参加者は教師や、教育用キットの開発者などです。
意見を求められて、「私はSTEMの人ではないので良く分からない」と言うなどしました。

KLESF
My stage performance at the KLESF was
held twice, on the first day and the
last day.
I have one hour, and I could do
whatever I wanted.
Since it was a good opportunity, I
decided to do something bold that I
don't usually do - sing myself.
I even invited people from the
audience to sing along impromptu.
After the performance, I asked the
students to come up on stage to have a
close look at the robot and then took
photos with them.
KLESFのステージパフォーマンスは初日と最終日の２回行いました。
持ち時間は１時間で、何をしてもかまわないという感じです。
いい機会なので普段できない「自分で歌う」という思い切ったことをすることにしました。
客席からも人を呼び込み、即席で一緒に歌うなどしました。
終了後、学生さんに舞台に上がってもらい近くでロボットを見てもらったあと一緒に写真をとりました。

KLESF
KLESF is a STEM related event held in
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In addition to the usual robot
exhibits, I also performed on stage.
We carried the table with the
automatic playing robots that were
installed in our booth directly onto
the stage.
I had a microphone placed on it, and
sang songs to the robot's
accompaniment.
KLESFはマレーシアのクアラルンプールで開催されたSTEM系のイベントです。
いつものロボットの展示に加えてステージでのパフォーマンスも行いました。
ブースに設置した自動演奏ロボットのテーブルをそのままステージ上に運びました。
マイクを置いてもらい、ロボットの伴奏を背景に歌を歌うなどしました。

I ordered the PCB circuit board, and
something like a cufflink was sent
along with it.
I wonder how to use it?
It says 9th anniversary.
It's a fairly new company.
基板を注文したらカフスボタンのようなものが一緒に送られてきました。

けっこう新しい会社なんですね。
The exhibition was on the third floor,
so we called in and guided people on
the first floor.
Three Christmas songs were played on a
loop, and students accompanied them on
piano and guitar.
Children were asked to hold maracas or
bells and join in as part of a jam
session. Children who wanted to could
also play the piano or guitar.
展示場所は３階だったので、１階で呼び込んで誘導する形でした。
クリスマスソング３曲をループで演奏していて、学生さんがピアノやギターで伴奏します。
子供たちには百均で売っているマラカスとか鈴を持ってもらって、セッションという形で参加してもらいます。希望する子供さんにはピアノやギターも弾いてもらいました。

Yesterday, I exhibited at the Osaka
College of Music's school festival.
There is a department that manages
music-related events, and this project
was apparently part of a class, so it
was a collaboration with students, and
they helped out in many ways.

昨日、大阪音楽大学の学園祭で展示をしました。
音楽関連のイベントなどをマネージメントする学科があり、今回の企画も授業の一環となっているらしく、学生さんとのコラボレーションという形でしたので、色々と世話をしてくれました。
