It was a rather unusual concert, with
images from a microscope projected
alongside a piano performance. The
performance lasted about 40 minutes,
but it was fascinating.
The performance and the images weren't
synchronized, but the person in charge
of the microscope controlled the
images in a nice way, matching them to
the melody.
When I was writing a series on
automatic composition in DTM Magazine
previously, I tried changing the
melody using images from a webcam, and
included a sample program, and I think
it should be possible to do something
similar with images from a microscope.
I'd like to make that next.
ピアノの演奏の横で、顕微鏡からの映像を投影するという少し変わったコンサート。約４０分の演奏だったが、面白かった。
演奏と映像は機械的に同期しているわけではないが、顕微鏡担当の人が曲調にあわせて、いい感じで操作してくれる。
以前、DTMマガジンで自動作曲の連載をしていたときに、Webカメラからの映像で曲調を変化させるというのをやったことがあり、サンプルプログラムもつけていたが、顕微鏡からの映像でも同様のことができるはず。次はそれを作ってみたい。

Impressions & Notes from the Exhibit
(1) Several people said they liked the
way the trains all returned at once.
(2) There were quite a few kids who
kept playing until all the cars had
reached the finish line. Just like at
the Music Plant exhibit, they kept
tapping the keys without worrying
about dissonance or anything else.
(3) I was approached by a lot of train
and model train enthusiasts.
(4) More people tried playing it than
at Music Plant. Perhaps there was less
pressure to play well.
(5) Of course, it's more fun when
played by someone skilled at the
piano.
(6) The duet was fun. It might be fun
to set it up at a party venue and let
people play freely.
展示の感想＆メモ
（１）電車が一斉に戻っていくところが好きという人が何人かいた。
（２）全車両がゴールするまで弾き続ける子供がけっこいういた。不協和音でもなんでも気にせずにキーを叩き続けるのはMusic
Plantの展示のときと同じ。
（３）鉄道マニアさんとか、鉄道模型マニアさんにけっこう声をかけられた。
（４）Music
Plantのときより、弾いてみてくれる人が多かった。上手に弾かなければならないというプレッシャーが少ないのかも。
（５）もちろんピアノが上手な人が弾くと面白い。普通に予想ゲームが成立する。（主音に対して完全５度の音、たとえば、ハ長調であればソの音が勝つことが多い。）
（６）連弾は面白かった。パーティ会場などに置いて、自由に弾いてもらえるようにしておくと盛り上がるかも。
