Sketch of Musical instrument.
I will re-make the previously created
turtle-shaped musical instrument
"Turtle Pan".
Try to move its head, tail, and limbs.
Until now, I haven't attached motors
to instruments, so this is a new
attempt.

Aura Lea
Three steampunk-style robots will play
Aura Lea. Steampun-kun and Steam-Panda
are playing an instrument called
Propanota.
Mimizu-kun is playing a gamelan toy
that was given as a gift from
Indonesian friend Yohanes.
The band of steampunk robots, aiming
to perform in the majestic atmosphere
of the Orient.
I am planning to add the variation of
the songs, but it is difficult to play
fast-paced songs, and I think the
tempo of the video is the maximum.

The opening ceremony of the Olympic
Games was held in Tokyo and was
broadcast worldwide.
Looking at the posts and articles on
facebook, I get the impression that
the evaluations and ratings from
overseas are generally bad, and in
Japan half positive and half negative
opinions.
I'm not interested in sports at all,
but I turned on the TV because I
wanted to see the show.
I think it was from 8 pm to 12 pm in
Japan.
I was watching while rumbling, but I
fell asleep on the way to the parade
of the player, and when I woke up, I
saw the drone show.
After that,I saw the show while doing
other things, but I watched until the
end.
The drone has been spoiled since the
day before, and it's something I can
imagine, so I don't have any
particular impressions.
In the first half of the show, there
was a projection on the floor.
About two years ago, when I happened
to be in China, I saw the opening
ceremony of something like the
military Olympics on the hotel TV.
It was a vast venue, but the images
were so clear that I thought the
entire floor was liquid crystal
panels. (Maybe that was the case.)
I think that the impact was stronger
there, but I also wondered if there
was a difference in camera work or the
way it was projected. Also, if we
don't show Japanese own technology, it
is the difference in how much money we
spend.
In any case, high-tech things such as
drones and projections are necessary
as a given story, but what about other
content?
As for my impressions, there are
things that only Japanese people can
enjoy, and I wonder how much
foreigners enjoyed seeing them. How
many people in the world know the
theme song of Dragon Quest, and how
many people find the skits of
entertainers that you often see on
Japanese variety shows interesting.
What I personally found interesting
was the pictogram, and I saw the
images and videos on facebook from
overseas as well. I think it was
welcomed overseas.
What I didn't really understand was
tap dancing, which has nothing to do
with sports or Japanese culture, and
is sober anyway. I wonder why it was
in the show. I saw a post saying that
analog thing like tap dance is the
best. I'm not particular about digital
and analog, but I'm not sure why
that's the case.
I think the pictograms are analog and
inexpensive, even though it was great,
you know. Well, I like typography,
shapes, design-related things, but
some people might have thought it was
boring.
Overall, including the last torch
performance, it seems to pretend
appealing to the world, but in fact I
wondered if it was a show made for
Japanese people.

Robolympics
Robolympics is the original name of
RoboGames, the world competition for
robots held every year in California.
I participated twice, but it seems
that the last one was held in 2018.
If the robot get within the 3rd place
in the competition, the robot will get
something like a gold, silver or
bronze medal.
There are various competitions, but
the main competition is to crash robot
cars equipped with weapons.
I feel that the battle of humanoid
robots is more popular in Japan, but
the games are often sober.
The collision of robot cars is flashy
with sparks, and since this
competition was also held at the
DFRobot event in Shanghai, I think it
is also popular in China.
Since the Maker Faire Bay Area has
disappeared, I was thinking of
participating again, but I wonder when
it will be held next time.

Musical sheet for circular stringed
instruments.
The conventional one was printed on a
transparent OHP sheet with a regular
printer for use in bright places.
The new one will be put on the disk
where the projector is projecting a
video in a dark room.
Since white cannot be printed with a
normal printer, it is engraved on
transparent acrylic with a laser
cutter.
Obviously, printers can't print white,
and projectors can't project black.
I was planning to shine a black light
on the white carved part in a dark
room, but it did not emit as much as I
expected.
I'm thinking of applying condensing
paint to the engraved part.

Do you like pineapple?
Some pictures from the opening of
Maker Faire Cairo.
ZOOM was used, and the participants
were the organizer, the US ambassador
to Egypt, and myself.
I felt strange , but it's a great
honor.
The video of ZOOM should have been
distributed in some way.
I'm guessing that it was being
broadcast live on youtube.
I thought it would be better to have
something Japanese in additon to the
usual robot performance, so I asked
two people in the tatami band to
participate.
Due to the time difference, it was
started from 3:30 midnight.
I used two cameras this time.
There was a slight delay in switching
each time with ZOOM, but there was no
major problem.
Next time, I plan to add more to 3
cameras.
I've been taking the form of a
combination of live performance and
pre-recorded video for a while, but
this time I chose only live
performance because the time is only
15 minutes.
I'm getting used to delivering online
events little by little, but when I
look at the organizers, I get the
impression that they are all in the
stage of trial and error.
In the next few months, we'll be able
to have events at the venue as before,
so by that time the online events at
Maker Faire may be almost gone.
I think there are some events that are
better suited online, but I think the
Maker Faire is different.
However, the merit of being able to
easily participate in overseas events
is great, and it is difficult to
participate in the Maker Faire in
Egypt, so I think the last night was
the only opportunity to participate
it.

Bass Instrument
This is an attempt to make a panda
robot play a bass instrument.
The instrument is inevitably large to
produce bass.
I've been failed several times so far,
but this time it seems to work.
The sound is a little quiet, so should
I use the amp?
Today, I go to the Fab studio and make
some parts with a laser cutter.
