on my way back from Maker Fair

The head, arms, and legs are attached
to the body with magnets,
It can be taken apart and stored
inside the body.
This is an unidentified USB that was
in a pocket watch-like container that
I got at seeed studio's 15th
anniversary party.
I had a desire to plug it into my
laptop's USB port, and I thought it
wouldn't break anything.
I cannot do it physically because it
has a obstructive bulge. I thought
this was an expression of "It cannot
be used".
It said XIAO SAMD21 on the back, so I
looked it up and found that it was a
commonly available Arduino compatible
controller.
1800 yen on Amazon. Does that mean I
should carry it hanging from my neck?

15周年のパーティでもらった懐中時計みたいな入れものに入っていた謎のUSBです。
ノートパソコンのUSBポートに刺してみたいという欲望にかられて、まさか何か壊れることもないだろうと思ってやってみたら、でっぱりがあるので物理的にさせなかった。これは「使えません」という意思表示かと思ったんだけど、裏にXIAO
SAMD21と書いてあったんで調べてみたら、普通に市販されてるArduino互換機でした。
amazonで1800円。首からかけて持ち歩けということか？

At an event the other day, the
children kept pressing the center of
the LED on the chest as if it had a
button, so I thought of a new
function.
ケーブルＴＶにも出演したロボットの”でかさんくん”。
先日のイベントで、子供達が胸のＬＥＤの真ん中あたりを、ボタンがついているかのように、しきりに押してきたので、新しい機能を考えました。

children.
The stage only lasted 15 minutes, so I
tossed the shrimp around at high
speed.

他の着ぐるみと一緒に写真を撮ったり、子供に取り囲まれたりしました。
ステージは１５分しかなかったので、高速で海老を振りまわしました。

I remember when I was a kid there was
an octopus park right next door.
There are 1,718 municipalities in

Kyoto City seems to be extremely
crowded with people coming to see the
autumn leaves.
Today I'm going to Yamashina to shake
a shrimp, and if I go all the way by

in traffic.
京都市内は紅葉を見に来る人で激混みらしい。
今日は山科に海老を振りにいくんだけど、全部有料道路で行ったら渋滞に巻き込まれずに済むはず。

I saw children trying to write letters
on piano rolls in my media artwork
called Music Plant, so my next piece
will look something like this.
I made something that read a bitmap
and converted it to sound about 20
years ago, but this time I'd like to
have it written directly to the piano
roll instead of reading a picture
file.

Plantという作品で、子供達がピアノロールに文字を書こうしていたのを見たので、次回作はこんな感じ。
ビットマップを読み込んで音に変換するというのは20年前くらいにも作っていたんだけど、今回は絵のファイルを読み込むのではなく、直接ピアノロールに書き込んでもらう感じにしようと思います。
これだとノートパソコンだけで出来るから、場所をとらないのでテーブル１つでもMusicPlantの横に置いて展示できると思います。

endurance tests of the work.
屋外での展示で、誰もが自由に触れることができる作品です。
昨日は、極寒のなか集まった子供たちで、有志による作品の耐久試験が行われました。

西大寺駅のロボット
I read on the news that a robot was
introduced at Saidaiji Station, so I
went to see it.
When you select the menu displayed on
the touch panel, it will guide you
about the station.
It is also possible to have a voice
conversation, and it may respond to
items that are not on the menu.
西大寺の駅にロボットが導入されたというニュースを読んだので、見に行ってみました。
タッチパネルに表示されているメニューを選ぶと、駅の案内をしてくれます。
音声による会話も可能で、メニューに無いものも応答してくれることがあります。

I made a new discovery today.
I am exhibiting a work called "Music
Plant" at an event called "MikanoharArt".
When I play the keyboard, the pitch of
the note will be reversed and played
back.
I discovered that when I play the
Okinawan scale, it plays back in an
old Japanese scale.
今日は新しい発見がありました。
「みかのはらーと」というイベントで「Music
Plant」という作品を展示しています。
鍵盤を演奏すると、音の高さの上下を反転してプレイバックします。
沖縄音階を演奏すると、和風の音階でプレイバックされることを発見しました。

I am exhibiting a media art work
called Music Plant at an event called
"MikanoharArt".
It's outdoors with a roof, and on
weekdays I go to set it up in the
morning and take it down in the
evening. The event is until this
Sunday.
The venue was an event space called "Yagiya
(Goat house)," and there was a goat
wandering around in the field in front
of it.
「みかのはらーと」というイベントでMusic
Plantという作品の展示を行っています。
屋根付きの屋外で、平日は朝に設置に行って、夜に撤収する感じです。今週の日曜日までです。
会場は「やぎや」というイベントスペースで、前の畑に山羊がウロウロしていました。
I am preparing to exhibit at Maker
Faire Shenzhen.
I realized that it would be difficult
to move with one suitcase and one bag,
so I ended up going back to two
suitcases.
It turns out that Hong Kong Express
regulations do not allow me to bring
my usual large black suitcase.
I repacked it into a regular size blue
suitcase.
The carry-on weight is 7kg, but it
seems that a separate laptop bag is
not included in the 7kg limit.
メイカーフェア深圳は、こんな感じです。
スーツケースとスポーツバッグの組み合わせは、移動が大変なことが分かったので、スーツケース２つに戻しました。
Ｓｅｅｅｄの工場見学とＭ５Ｓｔａｃｋのミートアップに参加する予定だけど、同じ日なので上手く移動できるか不安。
The first day of NT Tokyo held at the
Science Museum.
There is a Japanese proverb that says
"catching sea bream with shrimp".
It means catching expensive fish with
cheap bait.
When I decorate my booth with shrimp
cushions, children will come to you.
Sometimes adults come too.
NT東京１日目
海老で鯛を釣るという諺がありますが、海老のクッションを飾っていると、子供が寄ってきます。
時には大人も寄ってきます。
今日は、海老原さんに海老を貸し出すなどしました。
ロボットの着ぐるみを持ってきていないので、手にもった海老を振りながらパレードに参加しました。
This is a media art work called Music
Plant that will be exhibited at NT
Tokyo.
It consists of a foldable keyboard,
monitor, laptop PC, and plants and LED
for decoration, all of which fit into
one suitcase.
Unlike usual, I don't have to bring
repair tools such as a soldering iron
or screwdriver, so it's very
convenient.
NT東京で展示する Music Plant という作品です。
構成は、折り畳みができるキーボード、モニター、ノートPCと植物とLEDの飾りですが、すべてが１つのスーツケースに収まります。
いつもと違い半田ごてやドライバーなどの修理道具も持っていかなくて良いのでとても楽です。
