On Saturday, I visited a robot
competition called CoRE.
I got a flyer at a maker fair in
Kariya, and since the venue was near
my house, I went go see it.
Roughly speaking, it's a competition
in which the robot moves on four
wheels and fires disks to hit
opponent's robots.
There was an element where teams form
alliances to fight, and the losing
team is incorporated into the winning
team.
I think the game is designed so that
even if a group lose in the middle,
they can still participate until the
end.
土曜日にCoREというロボットの競技会を見学しました。
刈谷のメイカーフェアでフライヤーをもらったんですが、会場が家の近くなんで見にいくことに。
おおざっぱに言うと、４輪で移動しながら円盤を射出して、相手のロボットに当てるという競技です。
全部は見れなかったんですが、、チーム同士で同盟を組んで戦うという要素があり、負けたチームが勝ったチームに取り込まれるみたいなところがあって、
途中で負けても最後まで参加できる形になっているんじゃないかと思います。

Kyoto.

It wasn't raining that much.
The robot's ears were missing, and the
LED in the eyeball was burnt out.

１Ｆ北、１Ｆ南、２Ｆ、園庭、境内、屋上、打ち上げ
撮りのこしがあるかも。。。
雨はそれほどでもなかったです。

music plant darkroom exhibition record
In addition to the usual ring LEDs, I
installed UV lights to illuminate the
keyboard.
The video shows too much light, but it
is a regular black light.
The problem with this work is that you
can't really understand the fun of it
until it's explained.

いつものリングLEDに加えて、鍵盤を照らすUVライトを設置しました。
映像だと発光しすぎていますが、通常のブラックライトです。
この作品の難点は、説明を一通りしないと面白さが分からないところですかね。

Soap bubbles at the shrine
I made bubbles using the chest fan of
the robot costume.
Since I can't see my hands clearly,
it's a little difficult to direct the
air from the fan.
By the way, soap bubbles are better
produced in rainy weather.
NT京都 神社でシャボン玉
ロボットの着ぐるみの胸のファンを使用してシャボン玉をしました。
手元がよく見えないので、ファンからの風をあてるのがそこそこ難しいのです。
ちなみに、雨天のほうがシャボン玉がよく出来ます。

ロボットの顔
This is the face of my new robot.
I used acrylic to recreate it I had
previously made using a 3D printer.
Her glasses are floating a bit, but
that's okay.
I wanted to make her look like a young
woman, but it looks like I failed.
Maybe I should change the shape of the
eyes a little.
新しく作るロボットの顔です。
以前３Dプリンタで試しに作ったものをアクリルで作り直しました。
眼鏡がちょっと浮いてしまっているけど、まぁいいか。
若い女性風にしたかったんだけど、失敗している気がする。
目の形を少し変えたほうがいいのかな。

シャボン玉送出装置
I attached an 80mm PC fan to robot
costume Deka-san's chest to make
bubbles come out.
As usual, I tried to power it with USB
5V, but the wind power was weak.
So, a 9V USB boost cable was just
fine, maybe 12V is too strong.
でかさんくんの胸にPC用の80㎜ファンを取り付けてシャボン玉が出るようにしました。
例によってUSB5Vで給電しようとしたんですが、さすがに風力が弱く、9VのUSB昇圧ケーブルで丁度くらい。
たぶん12Vだと強すぎるのかな。
屋外で、他の人や建物、食べ物のほうに飛んでいかないように配慮します。

メイカーフェアのブース数
This is a map of the Yamaguchi Mini
Maker Faire venue that I found while
trying to find out the number of
booths at past Maker Faires.
It's from 2015 and includes familiar
names such as Daily Portal and
Higekita.
I have participated in the Yamaguchi
Mini Maker Faire with the rotary harp
exhibit and a tatami band performance.
I couldn't find the booth name on the
venue map, and it turns out I
participated in it in 2013.
Maker faires, both Japanese domestic
and international, often do not list
the number of booths on their
websites.
So I looked at the map and counted,
and it seems like there were just
under 120 people at the Yamaguchi Mini
Maker Faire.
The Kariya Micro Maker Faire the other
day had just under 60 people, so I
guess it was almost double the size.
By the way, Ogaki Mini Maker Faire has
over 100 participants.
過去のメイカーフェアのブースの数を調べようと思ってみつけた山口ミニメイカーフェアの会場図。
2015年のものでデイリーポータルとかヒゲキタさんなどお馴染みの名前もある。
山口ミニメイカーフェアは、回転式ハープの展示と畳バンドの演奏で参加したことがある。
会場図にブース名が見つからないなぁと思ったら、どうやら参加したのは2013年だったらしい。
国内外を問わずメイカーフェアは、サイトにブースの数を書いていないことが多い。
なのでマップをみて数えるわけですが、山口ミニメイカーフェアは１２０弱だったみたい。
こないだの刈谷マイクロメイカーフェアは60弱だったから、ほぼ倍の規模だったのかな。
ちなみに大垣ミニメイカーフェアは100強。

トイレットペーパーの送出装置
Something I'll make someday
This is a toilet paper dispensing
device that uses toys with wheels and
moving legs that are sold at 1$ shop.
The motorized type has a switch
attached to it, and when turned on,
the paper is fed out of the roll by
the movement of the wheels or feet.
For the wind-up type, hang it from a
string, and after winding the spring
and moving it, loosen the string and
let it touch the surface on the roll.
そのうち作るやつ
１００均で売られている車輪のついた玩具や足が動く玩具を使用した、トイレットペーパーの送出装置です。
モーター式のやつはスイッチを取り付けて、オンにすると車輪や足の動きでロールからペーパーが繰り出されます。
ゼンマイ式のやつは、紐でぶら下げる形にしておいて、ゼンマイを巻いて動かした後、紐を緩めてロールに接地するようにします。

R1グランプリ
Broadcasting of a comedian contest
program called R1, which is famous in
Japan, has begun. In the past, I have
participated in robot tricks.
R1グランプリ始まりました。
最近は事務所に所属している人しかエントリーできないので、来年あたり、どこかの事務所に入ろうと思います。
The flyer used for the robot fortune
has been made.
The robot draws letters on the white
side, and the back side has some
illustration of the robots in
newspaper style.
It used to be B4 size (between A4 and
A3), but the brush was slightly
protruding, so I changed to A3.
The paper should be a little thin so I
can carry it on the plane.
I had the impression that thinner
paper would be cheaper for the same
number of sheets, but sometimes
thinner paper can be more expensive.
ロボットおみくじに使用するフライヤーが出来ました。
白い面にロボットが文字を描き、裏面に新聞形式でロボットのイラストなんかを載せています。
今までＢ４だったのですが、筆が微妙にはみだしたりするのでＡ３にしました。
紙は飛行機で持ち運ぶことを考えて少し薄いものに。
同じ枚数だと紙は薄いほうが安いイメージだったんですが、薄いほうが高くなる場合があるんですね。

Music Plant
I analyzed the logs from when the
media art piece "Music Plant" was
exhibited at Shimizu Station in Nagoya
for one month.
I only know the number of times the
keyboard was played, but I think the
number of people who experienced it
was probably about one-third of the
number of times.
I can see that the number of
occurrences decreases with each
passing day. There are peak times at
4:00 PM and 6:00 PM, so I guess there
are some people who try it on their
way home.
I can see from the number of notes and
performance time that many people were
just trying it out, but there were
also quite a few who played until the
very end of the 36-second time limit.
メディアアート作品「Music
Plant」を名古屋の清水駅で１か月間展示じたときのログを分析しました。
キーボードで演奏が行われた回数しか分かりませんが、体験者数はおそらく回数の３分の１くらいではないかと思います。
日を追うごとに、回数が減っていくのが分かります。１６時と１８時にピークがありますので、おそらく帰宅の時に触ってみたという人が多いのかと。
音符数や演奏時間から、ちょっと触ってみただけという人が多いことが分かりますが、３６秒の制限時間ギリギリまで演奏していた人もけっこういます。

刈谷マイクロメイカーフェア
This is the scene from yesterday's
Kariya Micro Maker Faire.
There were about 60 booths in total,
and there were many visitors including
families with children.
This time, I wasn't exhibiting, so I
looked around at other people's works
for the first time in several years.
When I was wandering around wearing an
M5 Stack hoodie, the exhibitors
started talking to me as if they think
I am an employee of the company.
I've been wearing it a lot since I got
it on the company visiting tour in
Shenzhen last year.
I'm sure there were Seeed and DF robot
T-shirts, so I'll wear them when it
gets warmer.
昨日の刈谷マイクロメイカーフェアの様子です。
全部で約６０ブースあり、たくさんの来場者がありました。
子供づれの家族も多かったように思います。
今回、出展はしていないので、何年かぶりに他の人の作品を見て回りました。mp

Stackのパーカーを着てウロウロしていたら、お世話になってますみたいな感じで、出展者の人たちに話しかけられました。
昨年の深圳の見学会でもらってから、けっこう着て歩いています。
シードとかＤＦロボットのＴシャツもあったはずだから、温かくなったら着て歩こうかな。。。

テントウムシの楽器
I tried having a robot play the
ladybug musical instrument I am
making.
Since I'm planning to have it handle
the bass line, it generates
low-pitched sounds.
However, with PWM, it doesn't sound
line the bass. It may need a sound
envelope that dampens it.
Also, it's not good to have the wiring
exposed, so I have to make a cover to
surround it.
制作中のテントウムシの楽器をロボットに演奏させてみました。
低音を担当させるつもりなので、低めの音にしていますが、やっぱりPWMだとベースの感じがでないですね。
あと、配線むき出しなのもよくないので、周囲を囲む蓋いを作らないと。。。

Music Plant
Since the exhibition ended at the end
of February, I removed the work called
Music Plant that was on display at
Shimizu Station in Nagoya.
Although the power had been left on
since the end of January, it was able
to maintain a track record of
continuous operation for a month
without any trouble.
I was nervous about running a media
art piece semi-outdoors for a long
period of time, but it turned out
well.
A log is saved on the PC, so I can see
the number of visitors and the how
they played it.
２月いっぱいで会期が終わったので、名古屋の清水駅に展示していたmusic
plantという作品を撤収しました。
１月末から電源を入れっぱなしでしたが、１か月間トラブルなしで常時稼働させるという実績ができました。
メディアアートの作品を長期間、しかも半屋外で動かすっていうのは不安しかなかったのですが、やれやれです。
PC内にログが保存されているので、体験者の数や、どのような演奏を行ったか分かるようになっています。

刈谷マイクロメイカーフェア
Watermelon-shaped robot on display at

It is no exaggeration to say that I
went to the venue to see this.
Operate with remote control.
Although it only has two servos on
each leg, it can perform a variety of
movements.
The LED lights up in the direction of
travel.
刈谷で開催されたメイカーフェアで展示されていたスイカ型のロボット
会場へは、これを見に行ったといっても過言ではありません。
リモコンで操作します。
各足に２つづつサーボがついているだけですが、色々な動きができます。ヤシガニの動きを真似ているのでしょうか。
LEDは進行方向に光るということでした。
