Overview of parameters

This page gives overview of ACS’s parameters.

Complexity of Chord progression
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
Chord blocks are generated according to complexity and generator. To see information about chords, click here.
The following values can be selected as complexity of chord progression.
Very Simple Creates a chord progression with a few variations. Creates a natural chord progression but it might give you an impression that it is too simple.
Simple Creates a chord progression with a few variations. Creates a natural chord progression but it might give you an impression that it is too simple.
Normal Creates a chord progression with a moderate variation.
Complex Creates a complicated chord progression. You will find it unnatural when you listen to it.
One Chord Create a chord progression by using just one chord.
Random Creates a chord progression by ignoring music theory. Creates an unnatural chord progression.
Sub Dominant Creates a tune that includes many progressions of sub dominant motion. Typical chord progression in key C is "F ->G7 -> C". This is motion of "Sub Dominant -> Dominant -> Tonic." "G7->C" is called dominant motion. However some chord progression is "G7 -> F -> C." This is called sub dominant motion.
Three Chords Creates a chord progression by using just three chords. Specify this option if you would like to compose a tune of blues.
Generator of Chord progression
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
Chord blocks are generated according to complexity and generator. To see information about chords, click here.
The following values can be selected as generator of chord progression.
Knowledge Base Assembles a chord progression by referring to [Knowledge Base].
Motion Calculation Assembles a chord progression by original motion calculation that figures out the motion of chords.
Custom Allows you to specify a chord progression by yourself. If you select this option, [ Chord Input ] dialog box will be displayed.
Fixed Bass
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
If fixed bass is selected, bass note will not be changed through the tune. Some ethnic music style such as Indian traditional music uses the same note through a tune. This bass note often called drone.
Adjust To Scale
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
If adjust to scale is selected, every chord includes only notes within selected musical scale. For example, C7 chord includes C, E, G, and Bb with diatonic scale. However, C7 chords includes only C and E with scale of CDEGA.
On Chord
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
If on chord is selected, bass note might be different from root note. If this option is not selected, bass note and root note are the same.
Pattern Length
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
Tune generated by ACS includes repetition pattern of chord blocks. This parameter determines how many chord blocks create one repetition pattern.
The following values can be selected as pattern length.
Auto Length of pattern will be determined automatically.
4 Chord Length of pattern will be four chord blocks.
Chord Length
[Style] -> [Tune] -> [Chord progression]
The length of each chord block  will be from one to eight times of quarter note length. If auto is selected, the length of chord block is determined using random numbers. To see information about chords, click here.
The following values can be selected as length of chord block.
Auto Length of chord block will be determined automatically.
1 Measure Length of chord block will be one measure.
